I've wanted to run a handmade home decor business since I was about eighteen years old, maybe even earlier. All throughout college when I was getting my Interior Decorating diploma, and when I was taking Business Management I couldn't stop thinking about running an artisanal home decor business from inside my home: I had everything planned, from what type of items I would make, to what they looked like, to how much I would price them for, everything.

Somewhere along the way I had convinced myself I needed to be practical and "get a real job" and make safe money if I wanted to survive on Earth as we know it, and so I served tables at restaurants and eventually started my freelance cleaning business I'm still running to this day, and don't get me wrong: I enjoy it and it pays the bills... but my heart will always wonder if I could have really done something with this little dream of mine, and so now in my mid-thirties while the world is metaphorically in a dumpster fire, I'm finally going to "chase my dreams" as they say (only I don't chase, I attract).

Whether or not it pays my bills or gets me the homestead of my dreams isn't really the goal at the moment, I just want to see if I can DO it y'know? Like sell items I made like for real. Would people even want to buy such a thing with the price of groceries and all?

I found an incredible sturdy wooden frame at the thrift store today made in 1898, and although I do enjoy the photo that's already inside I intend on making it my own with art that I've made (maybe a painting or a sketch I'm not yet certain). Soon I'll purchase a sewing machine and begin my fabric collection for quilt making, and crochet some throw blankets... and before we know it my dream will be a reality, finally.
